    GRUYERE CHEESE AND POTATO GRATIN     

   Ingredients :
 
2 lb (1 k) potatoes, peeled and sliced
Salt
Pepper
1 ½ Gruyere cheese, coarsely grated
2 eggs
2 cups hot milk
Nutmeg, ground

   Preparation:

Cook potatoes in hot, boiling salted water for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and drain potatoes in a colander.
Arrange layers of potatoes in a greased baking dish, alternating with ¾ cup Gruyere cheese, salt and pepper.

Whisk eggs in a bowl and add hot milk in a stream whisking. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Pour, carefully, over potatoes.
Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
Bake in preheated oven to 400ºF (200ºC) for 30 minutes or until top is golden and potatoes are tender.
Serve.
