SAGE

Sage is a big player in Mediterranean cooking.
It’s a great match with sausages, poultry,
pork, beef, lamb, and fish dishes.

  • Sage is low in calories and fat, as all herbs, and can therefore be added to all meals without having to worry about putting on weight.
  • Sage is a very good source of Vitamin A, calcium, iron and potassium. Sage is a herb that is not only used in cooking but also as a popular medicine.
  • In fact, the word sage derives from the Latin "salvare", which means to heal or to save.
  • Sage has long been cultivated in southern and Eastern Europe, around the Mediterranean and in Asia Minor and is widely used in Greek, Italian and Middle Eastern cuisine.
  • Sage has a strong, woody flavour and is particularly popular served with poultry, pork and other meat dishes.
  • Sage has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.
