BEEF STEW   
  Ingredients :
    2.2 lb (1 k) beef, cut in pieces
    3 – 4 white potatoes, peeled and halved
    Oil
    2 onions, peeled and finely chopped
    ¾ cup Port
    3 tablespoons tomato paste diluted in ½ cup hot water
    3 tomatos, peeled, seeded and chopped
    3 bay leaves
    1 teaspoon sugar
    ¼ cup raisins
    ¾ cup peas
    6 black olives, seeded
    Salt
    Pepper

  Preparation:

Heat oil in a saucepan or skillet. Season beef pieces with salt and pepper and brown them in the saucepan or skillet. Remove from the saucepan and set aside.
Add onion to the same skillet and cook until tender. Add garlic and tomato paste, meat, peas, Port, bay leaves, raisins and sugar.

Season to taste and bring to a boil. Add potato and continue cooking until potato and meat are tender. Add olives and correct seasoning. Remove bay leaf.
Serve with cooked white rice.
