SWEET AND SOUR PORK
Ingredients :
1 ½ lb lean pork
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
¼ cup water
Soy sauce
Sauce:
2 tablespoons cornstarch
¾ teaspoon salt
½ cup brown sugar
1/3 cup vinegar
1 cup pineapple juice
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 cup green pepper, cut in strips
¼ cup onion, thinly sliced
1 can pineapple chunks
Preparation:
Brown pork in hot oil. Sprinkle soy sauce generously over pork. Add water and simmer covered for 1 hour.
Sauce:
Combine all ingredients, except green pepper, onion and pineapple. Cook until slightly thick, stirring constantly. Pour sauce over hot pork. Let stand 10 minutes (or several hours if you wish).
When ready to serve add green pepper, onion and pineapple chunks. Heat and cook for 3 minutes.
Serve with white rice.
