Layer vanilla yogurt, fruit and granola in glasses for quick, healthy and delicious breakfast parfaits. (Use fresh, frozen (and slightly thawed) or canned fruit.)

We often eat when we are stressed or depressed. Try to break and change that habit by exercising instead. It does not have to be intense exercise. Sometimes a quiet and peaceful stroll can have a great impact on relieving stress.

Weight loss is best accomplished through a combination of cardio, weight training and diet. Weight training increases your muscles and the more muscle you have on your body, the more calories you will burn at rest. In other words, your metabolism becomes faster.

Consistency is the most important component in building strength. Training two or three times a week every week is far better than training with heavier weights once a week.

The more muscle mass you have the higher your metabolism is. Muscle is a highly metabolic tissue that requires tons of energy to maintain. A person with muscle can eat more food without gaining weight compared to a slim, non-muscular person.

Those with thyroid problems should avoid eating large amounts of cabbage or cauliflower. They both interfere with the absorption of iodine, needed by the thyroid gland.
