   Ingredients :
2 cups flour
teaspoon salt
1 cup butter (220 g / 8 oz)
cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Combine flour with salt in a medium size bowl. Set aside. Whip butter with sugar until soft and fluffy. Whip in egg and vanilla extract. Remove bowl from mixer and fold in the flour mixture just until everything is combined. Remove the dough from the bowl and form 2 disks. Wrap each disk in plastic wrap and refrigerate 2 or 3 hours.
Preheat the oven to 325F (170C). Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or a silicon mat.
Flour the work surface and roll one disk. Keep the other in the refrigerator. Cut the desired shapes and transfer cookies to the cookie sheets with 1 (3 cm) in between cookies.
Bake in the oven 13 15 minutes or until the edges turn golden. Remove from the oven and cool cookies completely on a rack before decorating.
Decorate with Royal Icing.
