Place shredded carrots with sugar, cinnamon and clove y a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens slightly. Stir in orange juice and continue stirring until mixture thickens and begin to pull away from the sides of pan.
Remove from the heat and cool.
Take small portions of carrot mixture and form small balls with the hands. Place each carrot sweet in a small paper cup. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds if desired.
Optional: Once the carrot mixture is ready transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle over with sesame seeds.
