    BEER CAKE     

   Ingredients :
 
9 oz (250 g) butter
2 cups sugar
1.2 lb (500 g) all purpose flour
4 eggs
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup malt beer
3 teaspoons cinnamon
teaspoon ground cloves
teaspoon nutmeg
cup raisins
cup nuts, chopped

   Preparation:

Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one by one, beating after each addition.

Sift together flour and baking powder and add to butter alternating with beer.

Add cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and nuts and raisins soaked in beer.

Transfer to a buttered and floured tube cake pan (5 cup-capacity).

Bake in preheated moderate oven 350 F (175 C) for 40 to 50 minutes.

Cool. Unmold.
